To report your child will be absent, please email the school attendance account for your child.

Important Message Regarding Parent Email Addresses:

We are receiving reports that parents with @AOL and @Verizon email accounts are having difficulty receiving emails from the Principal’s Newslists and Aspen parent email notifications. This appears to be related to strict filtering rules being applied by AOL and Verizon (now run on AOL servers) to mitigate SPAM from these types of distribution lists/mass-mailing systems. There are no issues with Gmail accounts.

Here are some suggestions you can try to remedy this situation and ensure you receive school email:

  • Check your SPAM folder – if you find school emails in the folder, you should indicate that they are not SPAM.
  • Add our domains to the Safe Senders or whitelist in your email client web interface. You may need to do this in the full web interface. You might not be able to do this with a phone client, or with the mobile version of their site: easton.k12.ma.us | aspen-sysadmin@myfollett.com

The process for adding sites to the safe senders or trusted sites list is managed differently in each email program. Click here to view a document with instructions for many common programs.
If the options above do not resolve the problem, you can create a new Gmail account.

School Cancellation, Delay, and Dismissal

DISMISSALS

  • Dismissals are rare.
  • Notifications are sent in the same manner as cancellations (above).
  • It is likely there will be significant bus delays in the event of dismissals to insure safe transportation. Please be patient.

CANCELLATIONS

  • Unless there is an extremely extraordinary circumstance, schools will always be cancelled together (ALL or NONE).
  • Notification will be sent to the emails and phone numbers on file (please update them if necessary). Local media will be contacted, and it will be posted online on our website and Twitter.
  • All afternoon and evening activities are also always cancelled unless further notification is sent to indicate otherwise.

DELAYS

  • We only utilize two delays: one hour or two hours.
  • Notifications are sent in the same manner as cancellations (above).
  • Half day morning Pre-K and kindergarten are cancelled when there is a two hour delay. It is at parent discretion if half day morning Pre-K and kindergarten children attend when there is a one hour delay.

WILL THERE BE TESTING FOR COVID-19 THIS YEAR AVAILABLE IN SCHOOL?

No. The testing program was initiated when at-home tests were limited and very difficult to find. Thankfully, more tests are available and can be found in your local pharmacy.

DO MASKS NEED TO BE WORN IN SCHOOL DURING THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR?

Masks need to be worn in all Health Offices throughout the district. If a staff member or student would like to wear a mask in other locations, they can opt to do so.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CHILD TESTS POSITIVE FOR COVID-19?

If your child tests positive for COVID-19, it is recommended that you contact the nurse at your child’s school. They will be able to provide guidance and help calculate when your child can return to school.

HOW IS IT CALCULATED WHEN MY CHILD CAN RETURN TO SCHOOL?

Your child can return to school on day 6 IF their symptoms are improving. Day 0 is considered the symptom onset day OR the day of testing positive if there are no symptoms.

DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO WEAR A MASK WHEN THEY RETURN TO SCHOOL AFTER HAVING COVID-19?

If your child produces a NEGATIVE test on day 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10, they can remove their mask in school.  If your child does not produce a negative test, it is recommended that they wear a mask through day 10.

WILL I BE NOTIFIED IF MY CHILD WAS EXPOSED TO ANOTHER CHILD THAT TESTED POSITIVE?

The state is not requiring districts to submit COVID-19 positive cases this year.  As a result, we will not be identifying close personal contacts either.

CAN MY CHILD RETURN TO THEIR SPORT IMMEDIATELY UPON RETURN TO SCHOOL AT OLIVER AMES HIGH SCHOOL OR EASTON MIDDLE SCHOOL?

There is a Return to Play Procedure that must be followed. That procedure can be found on our district website or can be found HERE. If you have any questions regarding the procedure, please contact Athletic Director, Ryan Gordy at rgordy@easton.k12.ma.us
